THE BLANKET STITCH HOODIE
Some garments begin with a silhouette, others with a fabric, but this piece began with an edge. While developing this hoodie, I kept coming back to the idea that most construction details are hidden and cleaned up. I wanted to take the opposite route and make the finishing a focal point. I know this isn’t a new idea and has been used for years but I did enjoy making sure the whole garment was framed as well as making the pocket square fitting in with the theme of a boxy hoodie.
My approach to clothing centers on longevity and intention, creating essentials that feel considered rather than disposable. The outline created by the stitching gives structure and character to a familiar silhouette, adding depth without overcomplicating the garment. It turns a classic hoodie into something with a visible contrasting stitch. During development, proportion and placement were critical. The stitch needed to be bold enough to frame the garment but controlled enough to keep the piece refined. Too heavy and it would feel too bold to the eye but too light and it would feel tacky.
I designed this hoodie to be worn often and improve with time. It is meant for everyday movement, travel, and layering, becoming more personal with wear. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do this is an absolute gem of a piece that has been worn most days of winter since I got the first sample. Wear it well, then pass it on. This hoodie will definitely survive a few generations.
